Tragic drowning incident in Mangaluru: Three women die in resort pool

A tragic drowning incident occurred on Sunday at a private beach resort in Mangaluru, Karnataka, where three women from Mysuru lost their lives in the swimming pool. The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Nishita MD, 20-year-old Parvathi S, and 21-year-old Keerthana N. The trio had been staying at the resort in Someshwara Uchila since Saturday, November 16.

The women entered the swimming pool around 10 am on Sunday, after setting up a phone to record videos and leaving their clothes poolside. Just a few minutes after they entered the pool, one of the women drowned. In a desperate attempt to rescue her, the other two women also drowned. The entire tragic incident unfolded in a matter of minutes, police said.

CCTV footage from the pool showed the women struggling in the water, though none of them knew how to swim. The staff at the resort soon discovered the incident, raising an alarm and notifying the authorities. A team from Ullal Police Station, led by inspector HN Balakrishna, rushed to the scene and launched an investigation.

The resort staff had been unaware that the women were unable to swim, which contributed to the disaster. The bodies of the victims were later recovered from the pool, and their families have been informed of the tragedy. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to determine if there were any lapses in safety measures at the resort.

The resort has expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims, and local authorities have called for stricter pool safety regulations in the wake of this unfortunate event. As the investigation continues, the incident has raised concerns about the safety of non-swimmers using swimming pools without adequate supervision.
